Seattle is my absolute favorite city. I might be a little biased, having lived right outside of Seattle my whole life and having spent many happy childhood days in the city. But seriously, it's the best! So when I got to spend a day downtown with some of my siblings going to (not one, but two) of our favorite cafes and some other favorite pretty areas, I had to share some of the wonderful memories we made! Since I could go on and on about the day, I'll just summarize the highlights in case anyone wants to check out these fun spots: Hanging out and climbing public art works in the EMP/ Science Center/ Space Needle/ Chihuly Glass and Garden area; Coffee at Vivace; More coffee at Café Umbria; Glass shops, art galleries and exploring new spaces in Pioneer Square.
I have to share one fun story about the delicious Espresso Con Panna looking drink in two of the pictures: So my husband and I took some very fun first anniversary pictures in Pioneer Square and while we were right in the middle of taking them (wedding dress, black suit and everything!), a lady sitting outside Café Umbria came up to us and recommended we get a drink called a Bicerin there. We love finding new favorite coffee drinks so we went in and ordered two of what ended up being one of the most simple yet delicious coffee drinks I've ever had! Unfortunately, we totally forgot the name for it and found out it is a very hard drink to describe (made even harder because it's an off-menu drink that not even all of the baristas there know how to make). Long story short: It took me an entire YEAR of going to Café Umbria and trying every drink they threw at me to try to find this one amazing drink. Finally I had it figured out, and the next time I came in and ordered one, the guy standing in line behind me was shocked to hear me order it. Turns out he's from the city in Italy (Turin I believe) where the drink is from and he was very impressed to hear an American order this drink. So all that to say, if you're ever in Seattle, go to Café Umbria in Pioneer Square and order a Bicerin. It will change your life! :)
